How do I open an Internet Fixed Rate Bond?
You can apply for an Internet Fixed Rate Bond online by selecting 'learn more' and 'apply' and then answering the questions. You'll receive a letter asking you to send us a cheque deposit to pay into your account for a minimum of £1 to confirm your linked bank account details. You can make your initial investment by cheque for the full amount you wish to deposit if you prefer. You'll also receive another letter confirming the set up of your direct debit link with your bank account – this is so that you have details of the direct debit guarantee.
You've asked me for a £1 cheque. How do I invest more?
You can send additional funds to us once your account has been activated by logging into your account and choosing 'make a deposit'. Alternatively you can make your initial deposit cheque for the full amount you wish to deposit if you prefer. You can only make further deposits whilst the issue remains open.
What happens when my Internet Fixed Rate Bond matures?
When your bond is due to mature we'll write to you giving you options to re-invest your funds or to close your bond. If we don't receive any instructions from you, your bond will automatically mature into one of our internet easy access accounts.
How long does it take to open my Internet Fixed Rate Bond?
Your bond will be reserved as soon as you apply. Your bond will be opened once we receive your initial deposit cheque confirming the account details for the bank account you have nominated as your linked bank account. Due to the current high demand for our accounts, it can take up to 10 banking days to process on your deposit and open your new bond.
How do I register for gross interest on my Internet Fixed Rate Bond?
You can register your bond for gross interest online by selecting 'change Tax'.
Why do I need a linked bank account?
You must have a linked bank account in order to make transactions once your bond has matured.
Why do I need to set up a direct debit? Will you automatically take payments from my bank account?
We won't take any unauthorised payments from your bank account. The direct debit is set up as this is the method we use for you to make deposits into your account when it matures into one of our easy access internet accounts.
You have sent me my access token but the email is blank.
The access token is sent in landscape format. Please maximise your screen and scroll to the right hand side and you should be able to view your access token.
