How do I make a withdrawal from my account?
In all cases of making a withdrawal, we require your passbook (if you've one) and a signed withdrawal form or letter of authority. These instructions must be sent into our Corporate Centre at Pendeford.

You'll have to consider whether the withdrawal will incur a charge or loss of interest, or affect the interest rate on your account. Also, if you think you'll want to make a withdrawal, make sure the account you choose will allow you to do so, and that you've sufficient cleared funds in the account.

Making a deposit by Standing Order or Regular Transaction.
To send us a deposit by post, please send a cheque (not cash) made payable to yourself, with your passbook (if your account has one) if you want it to be updated, and a deposit slip in the pre-paid envelope provided. We'll then return your updated passbook or a receipt for the deposit with another pre-paid envelope and deposit/withdrawal form for future use. If you don't have a deposit slip you can write the account number clearerly on the back of the cheque
You can also add to your account electronically on all easy access accounts, by using either Telegraphic Transfer or a Standing Order payment. You'll need to check with your bank whether there are any charges to do this.
To deposit using a Telegraphic Transfer or BACS, your bank will need to quote the following details:

When will I receive a statement?
We'll send all customers who currently receive a statement one statement each year. This will be sent at 12 monthly intervals on the anniversary of the account opening date.
I've recently changed my name. What do I need to do?
There are three main reasons for which you may need to request a change of name: Marriage, Deed Poll, Reversion to maiden name following a divorce by Decree Absolute.
So that we can amend your name on our records, we require the original or a certified copy of the certificate and written authority with previous and present signatures.

How do I change the address on my account?
To change your address, you must send a letter of authority, signed by all parties on the account, to our Corporate Centre at Pendeford.

NB Only by amending the details of the first named holder or trustee will the registered address of the account change.
I'm a non-tax payer. How do I register my account for gross interest?
Please contact our Savings and Investments Team on 0845 850 1025 to register your account for gross interest.
Interest and your account
Depending on your account type, interest can be paid to either:
- a bank or building Society account elsewhere
- another Birmingham Midshires account, or
- back to the account
If transferring interest to another bank or building Society, it may take up to three working days following the interest payment date to arrive on your designated account.
Changing account holders
Customers can choose to change the set up of account holder(s) on the account. This may involve adding new holder(s) or the removal of existing holders.
To be able to amend the account you'll need to complete a Form of Transfer. We'll also need the account passbook (if one has been issued). A Form of Transfer can be obtained by calling the Savings and Investment Team on 0845 602 2828 (The lines are open 8am to 8pm, Monday to Saturday).
If the new holder does not already hold an account with Birmingham Midshires We'll need them to provide us with suitable identification documents.
